March Break is on the way and for some it’s the perfect time to head down to the Sunny South, for others it’s ski boots and goggles up North. To still-working parents it’s a worry about what to do with the kids for a week while their little angels are home and a bit of a juggle to figure out care… For this mom it’s the time to enjoy sleeping in a bit, a break from a tight schedule, home improvement projects and perhaps a few fun (local) events with my brood.
I’ve gathered a list of different ideas so that you don’t go crazy looking all over the place. Now, that’s not to say that I have everything in here because by no means is that possible! But it’s a start so you can look all in one place for some Norfolk County March Break fun. Make sure you read all the way to the end – you don’t want to miss anything (and check back in case we add something)!
Swimming and Skating Schedules
The Simcoe & District Real Estate Board is sponsoring 3 of the swims this week at the Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre (Rec Centre for us oldies)! Here is the schedule for the pool and for public skating times at the arenas along with some great Norfolk County programs being offered. Have a 12 year old looking to prepare for a summer job? They can take the babysitting course! Visit the County Guide on their website HERE for more details or a larger version.
Lighthouse Festival Theatre
Visit them in person on Main St. in Port Dover for the Family pack discount, or purchase tickets online at their box office by clicking HERE. They have so many amazing events year round that if you aren’t following them on Facebook then you should be. Check out their FB page with this LINK.
Through a series of quirky misadventures, Frog, his human friend Bud and the funky Fairy Frog Mother reluctantly learn to be happy inside their own skins. Frog has been kissed with a kiss that nearly missed and instead of turning into a prince he yearns to be, he has simply become a really big frog. Bud, who becomes inadvertent recipient of Fairy Frog Mother’s rusty magic powers, learns what it’s like to live as a sneaky coyote and a buzzing bug. When the kiss of a new and improved princess falls to transform Frog into a prince, he is forced to take a heart-felt look at his former life in the pond.
Allow your imagination to run free as we follow Princess Leora on a magical adventure through her village in search for the one object that will save them all – a balloon.
Up against her evil uncle, the Archduke, and all the guards in the kingdom she cannot make it without the help of the villagers, and of course, the audience!
Set off on a magical journey filled with live music, secret passageways, wizards, magic spells, sword fighting and lots and lots of balloons!
No need to huff and puff over what to do this March Break! The Nearly World Famous DuffleBag Theatre brings The Three Little Pigs to life in their signature fun-filled and humorous fashion, using audience members as the stars. Audiences of all ages will be enchanted by the clever stagecraft, and DuffleBag’s witty narration. With their improvisation, you could say they don’t exactly go by the book!
I have to put my 2cents in here – I’ve attended many DuffleBag productions and I love the heck out of each one. Actors are super funny and the audience participation is amazing!!!
